DIRECTIONS: The Allegheny HYP Club is located in Downtown Pittsburgh on William Penn Place, next to the Regional Enterprise Tower (formerly the Alcoa Building).

PARKING: Convenient access to parking garages on Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue, a short walk from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Grant Street and the cultural district, the Club is in the heart of the Golden Triangle. Gail Ball

Gail is a fintech executive who has had a long career leading tech teams at global financial services firms. Building and overseeing a broad swath of entrepreneurial groups, she has held decision-making posts at nearly every seat around the financial services table—banking executive, regulator, service provider, and board member—in both for-profit and social-impact markets. Among her many areas of expertise: financial services, portfolio development, financial analysis, and information tech.

Gail most recently served as a C-suite member of The Bancorp Bank, the innovative banking solution provider for the most recognizable names in digital banking. She also filled other executive roles at PNC Bank, Chase and Capital One, and NCO Financial Systems. In addition, Gail headed the Payments Studies Group at the Richmond Fed and served as Board Member and Risk Committee Chair at Kompanion, one of Central Asia’s largest microfinance institutions. Gail has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of The Reserve Trust Company. She started out at Mellon Bank in corporate development, identifying and leading M&A transactions. 

Gail has a BS Economics, Finance and Statistics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (‘79). She is a member of multiple entrepreneurial, venture, and financial interest groups, including Venture Capital Group, On Startups, Innovation in Payments, and Global Financial Markets.

 

Adam F. Kelson

Adam Kelson represents businesses and entrepreneurs in numerous commercial, corporate and financial transactions, both nationally and internationally. He has represented investors, businesses and management in transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, recapitalizations and equity and debt securities offerings. Adam counsels entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies throughout the lifecycle of their businesses, including formation and start-up, corporate and business counseling, capital raising transactions and commercial relationships. His experience spans a variety of industries, from core manufacturing to service industries and high-tech.

Adam represents borrowers, banks and private lenders in secured and unsecured financing transactions, including asset based loan transactions, receivables facilities, factoring transactions, equipment leases and project finance.

Adam is chair of the Technology and Manufacturing Practice Group at Saul Ewing. In that capacity he oversees their RAMP program for early stage companies. He has a BA, Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania ('98).

 

Luke Skurman

Luke Skurman is the Founder and CEO of Niche.com. Niche.com is one of the world’s next great consumer information brands. It uses its data science platform to help consumers decide life’s questions of where; where to live, where to send your kids to school, where to go to college, and where to work.

Luke is passionate about education, entrepreneurship, and leadership. He holds bachelors and masters degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and is a member of its Board of Trustees; he is the Vice Chairman of the Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship committee, he is also a member of both the Finance and the Property & Facilities committees.

Luke is a Co-Founder and Chairman of Ascender, a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), focusing on bolstering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Pittsburgh region. He is the Founding Curator of the Global Shapers Pittsburgh Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. He has won national awards related to entrepreneurship from BusinessWeek, Fast Company, and Inc. Magazine and has been featured in numerous media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, and Fortune.

Luke was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Pittsburgh region in 2016.
